Campus Spring

There's no doubt that checking the weather app to see the sun and high temperature creates an overwhelming feeling of serotonin in the body. The sound of birds chirping, people studying in the oval, long walks with your friends, and overall sky high vibes on campus. Automatically my mood shifts into a motivated feeling that I must be outside doing something with my friends, or even just myself.

I never used to love going on walks or runs, I’m more of a long drive, windows down, and hair in the wind type of girl. However, I would say I have converted into a walk lover, whatever that means! Going on a walk especially around the Olentangy trail brings me such tranquility and joy. The water, the endless trees, geese that surround me never fail. I highly recommend taking just one hour of your day to try this activity. I promise you, it will be worth the time.

All throughout high school I was involved in multiple sports teams, and now that I am in college and don’t have the same opportunities, each day I cherish the times that I am able to participate in such activities.

The groups of people covered in smiles, playing lawn games in front of the dorms is the definition of the college experience. It feels and looks as if we’re in a movie. In addition to taking long walks, taking time to just sit outside and reflect is super beneficial especially as finals are coming up. My personal favorite would be sitting in Matcha Me, or Stauf's. The cozy yet calming feeling of sitting in a coffee shop surrounded by others who are working hard is motivating and uplifting.

I’ve always wanted to be someone who writes in a journal, and collects their thoughts on paper. Somehow I’ve just never been able to get myself to be consistent with using a notebook. However, I always see people either sitting on the grass, a bench, or lying on a blanket writing their thoughts away. This is something that can be extremely therapeutic and beneficial to all people. When I see people deep in their writing it inspires me, and makes me want to get my own. This also goes for reading books outdoors.

With the nature, and sounds of animals it creates a scene that is calming and allows one to focus greatly on a book. There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t see someone just simply locked in a novel, or a journal entry.

Springtime is like a light switch. The second the sun stays out for longer hours everyone's smile gets brighter, and the days get better. I could go on and on about the countless activities, and ways to soak in the sunshine and spring in Ohio. Getting outside for just a few minutes can emulate one's mood immediately. We are so fortunate to go to school in such a place that offers so many outlets and ways to get involved in each and every season.

So now that the sun is out, grab a book, your running sneakers, a blanket, or a friend and experience the season to the fullest.
